NOTHING IS

NOTHING

Nothing is Orange

Today is a very nothing day.

I awakened thinking nothing,

And my dreams did not hang around.

I awoke in an empty place,

A happy empty place.

Nothing is important today.

I have no idea why.

Questions and answers,

Insights and ah ha’s,

Memories and hopes,

Yesterday, and tomorrow—

All have been swallowed

Into a yawning sprawling

Nowhere.

 —-

My daily readings,

My novel,

My walk on the beach,

My sense of organization

And purpose

And even

Wonderment—

All have been swallowed

Into a yawning sprawling

Nowhere.

 —-

I awakened into nothingness.

I sip my glass of water

And

Toast my bread

And

Sit in centering prayer—

All inside the womb circle

Of nothingness.

 —-

It is a soft nothing,

Without any demands or fantasies.

While the beauty

Of this place

Surrounds me

I

Remain in nothingness.

 —-

Today nothingness

Feels inviting,

Seems sweet,

Restful.

 —-

Nothingness

Is not boredom

Or

The end of something,

Or even

The beginning of something.

It sits here

In the center of me,

Surrounding my entire

Sense of being.

 —-

Nothing

Is happening.

Nothing,

Like stilled breathing,

Like gentle clouds,

Filling me.

 —-

The absence of

Busy somethings,

Noisy somethings,

Clamoring somethings,

–even lonely somethings—

does not exist.

 —–

It is not like

Being in the eye of a storm,

It is not like

Days between

Hot summer

And

Golden autumn

And

Blustery cold snow chilling

Winter.

 —-

Nothing is.

—-

All seems

Without definition.

Without reason.

Without cause or effect.

 —-

Something

Seems transformed

Into nothing

Today.

The gears of my psyche

Have shifted.

I am not in neutral;

I am in nothing-gear.

I am not going anywhere;

Nor am I

Doing anything.

 —-

I am; I believe I am.

I experience my

naked presence,

My sense of being

Here and now.

 —-

I see and hear

And smell and touch.

I am no less here.

And at the same time

I am encircled

By

Nothingness.

 —-

I have nothing to report.

Today is

A nothing time,

Without rhyme or explanation.
