TWO KINDS OF WAITING

TWO KINDS OF WAITING

There are two kinds

of waiting.

There is the waiting

of the crab

mesmerized

in a pot of cold water,

 unaware

of fire

beneath and

sure death ahead.

And there is waiting

in the Upper Room

where

rationality

surrenders

into

soulness.

The former

waiting

numbs

and kills;

the latter

purifies

and energizes.

There is a waiting,

empowered by

courage

and readiness.

When is the

convenient time

to be born again

in cell and psyche?

When is the

proper moment,

where is the

proper place

to risk and

take that

courageous

step

beyond

a normalized

anxiety

enhanced by

a regulated

depression?

There is only

one time zone

for conscious

choices.

Now

is that time,

and

here

is the place.

It may not seem

convenient nor

easy nor

appropriate

to the traumatized

and well trained

rational mind.

To leave the

dead to bury

the dead,

to take up one’s

own cross and

bear it with

dignity and

grit

is to

step out of

the comfort zone

of deprived

and unconscious

normality.

Is this the

time

to

sacrifice

steadied and steeled

illusions of

safety

and risk

faith

again?

Such courage

is rare;

such courage

is the greatest

threat to

a well

armored

blindness.

“Now is the time

of salvation….

“Be not afraid….”

Angels of

truth and

liberation

surround

us all.

And yet

the angels

will not mess

with one’s destiny.

The choice,

with every

obedient

consequence,

is

always

ours..
